Cancelled: Tu Meke Tūī! Live On Stage

Tu Meke Tui 55 Large

Unfortunately, due to ongoing uncertainty around alert levels in Tāmaki Makaurau and across the motu, Auckland Live and Tour-Makers have made the difficult decision to cancel the Tu Meke Tūī! Live On Stage this October. Sadly there will be no postponed dates for this tour at this time.

While Tu Meke Tūī! Live on stage may not be able to go ahead as planned, we are working with the Tu Meke creative team to deliver a fun and interactive digital programme for whānau in the October school holidays. Keep an eye on our social media pages for details - @toitoivenues on both Facebook and Instagram.

A Tu Meke Tūī! and Auckland Live production

Adapted from the children’s book by Malcolm Clarke

Original direction by Renee Lyons

Original artwork by Flox

There’s more to being a bird than flying! Tere the tūī and Taitū the takahē are two very different sorts of birds: one loves to flit and twirl about in the sky, while the other prefers to rustle around in the undergrowth. Tu Meke Tūī! is a story of friendship, courage and discovering that sometimes it's our differences which make us truly special.

Award-winning children’s book Tu Meke Tūī! takes the stage and will lift your heart and soul. Set against a lusciously illustrated backdrop of Aotearoa’s magical native wildlife, this beautiful story celebrating friendship, courage and diversity will delight your whole whānau.

Tu Meke Tūī! contains English and Te Reo Māori and runs for 50 minutes. Recommended for those aged 3-8 years.
