
Proudly named for Cedric Wright, former caretaker of the Opera House, Cedric's ethos masterfully blends the decadence of the past with the tastes of today. Cedric’s is not like any other venue for hire – it’s a fully curated, complete experience, where every element of your event has been carefully selected, to ensure the highest quality for your guests.
Cedric’s can accommodate 30 people inside. While the adjoining Municipal Lane allows for a greater number, it’s not weatherproof, so capacity is limited to 30.
There is a flat venue hire fee of $350 excl GST. This ensures exclusive use of the space and staff. All food and beverages will be invoiced after your event, combined with your venue hire fee. Alternatively, we can operate a cash bar for your guests.

Cocktail-led, Cedric’s menu honours historical moments, creating memories for a lifetime with every sip. Our cocktail menu is designed so your tastebuds are transported to a bygone era, adding to the ambience of this special venue.
Complementing our classic cocktails, we collaborate with Master of Wine, Michael Henley, to create our small-yet-perfectly-formed standard wine list which celebrates the sumptuous, unique and diverse offering of our local industry. Our standard beer, champagne and soda list focuses on premium beverages which boast the best of Hawke’s Bay.
Cedric’s works with selected catering partners – Cellar 495, Craft & Social and Dish Catering. Menus are designed as snacks or supper servings, with a range of seasonal small plates, cheese or meat boards, canapes or pizzas available.
The Cedric’s experience includes a host (duty manager) and two fully-trained, specialist, uniformed staff. It also includes a curated soundtrack of era-appropriate background music, or you can supply your own Spotify playlist.
