Lets Talk Menopause with Nicky and Niki
Mood changes, hot flushes, insomnia, anxiety, libido, what is perimenopause and how long is it bloody well supposed to go on for? Nicky Pellegrino (Don’t Sweat It) and Niki Bezzant (This Changes Everything) chat with Dr Samantha Newman to give clarity to the confusion and hilarity to the heat. This will be a safe space in which to talk all things menopause, with plenty of time for questions at the end.

Nicky Pellegrino is the author of 13 best-selling novels that have been translated into numerous languages. Her latest is To Italy, With Love which was released last year and spent many weeks topping the NZ fiction chart. She is also the author of a non-fiction title, Don’t Sweat It: How to make ’the change’ a good one, a funny, frank and very useful guide to peri-menopause and menopause for New Zealand women. Nicky also works as a freelance journalist, with regular columns in the Listener and New Zealand Woman’s Weekly. And she co-hosted the podcast Book Bubble with author Stacy Gregg, celebrating New Zealand writing.
She is based in Auckland.

Niki Bezzant is a multi-award-winning New Zealand writer, journalist, editor and commentator who has built a reputation for translating complex health and science jargon into easy-to-understand information for everyone.
She has been involved in New Zealand media for more than 20 years. Currently the editor of Thrive magazine and the health editor of Woman magazine, she is also a frequent contributor to New Zealand’s top print, online and broadcast media. She founded and edited the Cuisine website before becoming founding editor of Healthy Food Guide magazine, taking that title from an independent start-up to New Zealand’s top-selling food magazine, a position it held for over a decade.
Niki is a sought-after speaker and has given two TEDx talks, including ‘What social media is teaching us about life, health and food.’ She’s passionate about women’s health, especially empowering midlife women to become ‘vibrant, kick-ass old ladies’.

Dr Samantha Newman is originally from London, but her forever home is now in Hawkes Bay, where she loves practicing medicine as a GP, specialising in Women’s Health. She focuses on working with the body and mind, and she has been drawn to menopause medicine because its nature is so multifactorial. Dr Sam established the FemaleGP Clinic, a Private Women’s Health Clinic in Napier to enable women who didn't have a GP confident in managing the pelvic health and hormonal small print where she could focus on these factors in her own time. With the advent of Telehealth, she now consults with women from all of Aotearoa. She loves education, and communicating about women’s health, and is honoured to be able to facilitate Niki and Nicky to empower our wahine and ensure that women do not struggle through the perimenopause transition.
